YES: Release Live Album – TOPOGRAPHIC DRAMA

Legendary Prog-Rockers’ Live Album Includes 2016 Performance Of Drama In Its Entirety, Plus Selections From Tales From Topographic Oceans, And Fan Favorites

Double-CD And Triple-LP Versions Released on 24th November

In the Summer of 2016, Yes embarked upon an ambitious tour.  At each show, the band performed its 1980 album Drama in its entirety – for the first time ever – plus sides one and four from Yes’ 1973 double-album Tales From Topographic Oceans (their first number one album), together with fan favourites like “Roundabout” and “Starship Trooper.”

Rhino salutes the influential progressive rockers – who were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame earlier this year – with the new live album, TOPOGRAPHIC DRAMA – LIVE ACROSS AMERICA. The music will be available on 24th November as a double-CD and a triple-LP.  Both versions feature detailed cover art designed by the band’s longtime collaborator Roger Dean.

The new collection features live performances from 12 dates recorded on the same tour from February 2017, by the current Yes line-up: Steve Howe (guitars), Alan White (drums), Geoff Downes (keyboards), Billy Sherwood (bass), Jon Davison (vocals), and additional drummer for this tour Jay Schellen.

TOPOGRAPHIC DRAMA – LIVE ACROSS AMERICA highlights the best performances from the 2017 leg of the 12-show tour and mirrors the set list from those concerts. Each night, Yes opened with all six songs from Drama (1980), the band’s tenth studio album, which peaked at No.2 on the U.K. album chart. Standouts include “Machine Messiah,” “Tempus Fugit” and the album’s only single “Into The Lens.”

After Drama, the band shifted gears for songs from two of its best-selling albums: “And You And I” from 1972’s Close To The Edge (UK platinum) and “Heart Of The Sunrise” from 1971’s Fragile (UK platinum).

Next, the group played the opening and closing tracks of its concept album, Tales From Topographic Oceans (1973). Howe’s exceptional guitar work on “The Revealing Science Of God” and White’s propulsive drumming on “Ritual” have always been regarded as ground-breaking.  The album concludes with two live staples: “Roundabout” from Fragile (1971) and “Starship Trooper” from The Yes Album (1971).

Among the world’s most influential, ground-breaking, and respected progressive rock bands, Yes was founded in 1968. The Grammy-Award® winning recording artists have sold more than 50 million records in a career that has so far spanned six decades.

About Steve Hackett

Steve Hackett is renowned as an immensely talented and innovative rock musician. He was lead guitarist with Genesis as part of their classic line up with Gabriel, Collins, Banks and Rutherford, who produced several of the band’s most acclaimed albums including Selling England by the Pound (a favourite of John Lennon) and The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway. With Steve’s extraordinary versatility in both his electric guitar playing and his composing, he involves influences from many genres, including Jazz, World Music and Blues. He is equally adept in his classical albums that include renditions of pieces by composers from Bach to Satie, his own acoustic guitar compositions that have gained the admiration of many, including Yehudi Menuhin, and ambitious guitar/orchestra albums such as A Midsummer Night’s Dream, recorded with the Royal Philharmonic.

BLACK MOTH ANNOUNCE FEBRUARY UK TOUR DATES AHEAD OF NEW ALBUM ‘ANATOMICAL VENUS’

RELEASED 23rd FEBRUARY 2018 VIA CANDLELIGHT RECORDS

Following two recent shows in London and Leeds to celebrate their latest single ‘Moonbow’Black Moth have announced a run of UK tour dates in February next year ahead of the release of their upcoming album ‘Anatomical Venus’. Vocalist Harriet Hyde comments:

Black Moth eagerly anticipate February’s UK tour to promote our 3rd album, ‘Anatomical Venus’. Some days the prospect feels like an ideal opportunity to exorcise some demons and inflate our egos a little to see us through the dark winter months. Some days it fills us with morbid anxiety and existential dread. Nevertheless, we will hit that road and play you our music hoping that you like it or otherwise formulating psychological defences against your hypothetical disapproval.”

While their first 2 albums were released by New Heavy SoundsBlack Moth will have their latest / third studio album issued worldwide via Candlelight Records on February 23rd 2018, the result of an alliance between Candlelight and NHS.

Produced by Andy Hawkins (Hawk Eyes, Maximo Park) with Russ Russell (Napalm Death, Dimmu Borgir) handling the mix, this 10-track affair sees the Leeds / London outfit – vocalist Harriet Hyde, guitarists Jim Swainston & Federica Gialanze, bassist Dave Vachon and drummer Dom McCready –  further honing the various elements of their sound to make the hooks more barbed and the focus more collective.

Latest single ‘Moonbow’ – recently played on Daniel P Carter’s Radio 1 Rock show – provides the first taste of things to come, successfully combining wide-eyed wonder with true metallic weight, the whole thing supported by a clip that delivers from the off in both intensity and colour. Watch the video here:

What’s for sure is that ‘Anatomical Venus’ is the heaviest Black Moth album to date, taking the signature Mothic sound – a dark and heady swirl of garage rock, mind-blowin’ psychedelia and amplified over-drive – down a more targetted path, effectively opening a new chapter in a career that stretches back to an inaugural single in 2010 and a debut album, ‘The Killing Jar’, in 2012.

For ‘The Killing Jar’ and its 2014 follow-up, ‘Condemned To Hope’, the band brought in Jim Sclavunos (a member of Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds since 1994) to handle production and mixing duties, and the results immediately connected with fans and media alike…

“Like Electric Wizard meets Band Of Skulls, in a dungeon” is one press description that sticks in the mind, with other points of reference including Black Sabbath, the Stooges, PJ Harvey, Melvins, Kyuss and Patti Smith; however, with ‘Anatomical Venus’ Black Moth are seeking to forge their own path, both musically and conceptually. The album’s name and central theme, arrived at when Hyde was introduced to the 18th century wax models of the female form employed by male surgeons to learn their craft, provides a strong platform for both the artwork and the lyrics, allowing the singer to take command and truly find her voice…

The Anatomical Venus spoke volumes to me,” she reflects. “She embodies the male gaze, a history of men dissecting women in an attempt to understand her, reveal her magic, snuff out her unruly flame, while all the time needing her to be beautiful and aesthetically pleasing to their taste. These models are not simply practical medical models for education – they are fetish objects, women stripped back as far as you can go. But there is a look of defiance in their eyes as if to say, ‘keep looking if you like. I dare you. Peel back my skin and peep behind my ribcage, you won’t find anything unless I choose to tell you’.”

Pre-order now on CD, vinyl and digital along with exclusive bundles –  https://candlelightrecords.lnk.to/anatomicalvenus

On the live front, Black Moth have appeared at a number of high-profile UK festivals (including DownloadReading & Leeds and Bloodstock Open Air), and guested – in the UK and Europe – with artists such as L7Uncle Acid and The Deadbeats and The Sisters Of Mercy.

Death, Politics & American Standards- Phoenix metalcore band comes together to release an album about falling apart

Sometimes strong emotions can make you lose focus. That’s not the case for Phoenix, AZ based four-piece American Standards. After losing their founding guitarist to suicide, then shortly after the vocalist Brandon Kellum’s father to cancer, the chaotic hardcore band founded in 2011 released their most emotionally and socially poignant album to date.

ANTI-MELODY” released on April 28th, 2017 displays the political noise-punk outfits ability to navigate the troubled waters of depression and loss while still incorporating the social commentary that the band has become known for. More so, once signed to an imprint of Victory Records, the band took a new approach of self mixing, producing and independently releasing the album after recording at Kingsize Soundlabs (Mars VoltaLetliveBad Religion). The result is a raw and powerfully resonate glimpse into the group’s minds during the troubled times.

Now more focused then ever, American Standards has hit the road playing over 300 DIY booked shows to date, sharing the stage with bands such as; Every Time I Die, Norma Jean, Zao, Comeback Kid, Stick To Your Guns, Stray From The Path, Knocked Loose, He Is Legend, Emery and Atreyu.

‘ANTI-MELODY’ which had premiers on Revolver Magazine, Alternative Press and Lambgoat; is available now on iTunes, Google Music, Amazon and Spotify or you can pick it up along with exclusive merchandise through the American Standards Bandcamp page.

The final instalments of The Mighty Handful’s album ‘Still Sitting in Danny’s Car’ are available now to stream, download or purchase on CD.

In Part 4, the final destination is still unclear … there are many back-roads and troubling diversions to navigate yet and everybody’s got an opinion – but which backseat driver should we listen to? Our resigned inner dialogue? That strangely angelic, yet diabolical barbershop quartet? A somewhat disgruntled Death or disembodied voices from the ether?

Our journey concludes with Part 5, as our hero considers the fact that all actions have consequences and reflects on the biggest of issues. We revisit some of the musical landscapes we’ve passed through and tie up a couple of loose ends … or do we? And then there’s a random meeting with a curiously familiar figure … at a pub’s open-mic night?

An album released in five parts, ‘Still Sitting in Danny’s Car’ recounts a narrative that touches upon issues of friendship, nostalgia, loss, lust, lessons we might learn from ancient history, alcoholism, and the dilemmas that come with great power. It is both a quirky study of grief and a celebration of what it means to be alive. With Parts 1-3 already available, the CD including both SSIDC 4: ‘Slow Reveal’ and 5: ‘Devils in the Details’ concludes our epic tale of ordinary rockers, pubs, time-travel and a job swap with Death.

Track Listing
4: Slow Reveal
Four Hoarse Men

Drowning in the Light
Slow Reveal

5: Devils in the Details

So Who’s Death?

An everyday tale of ordinary rockers, pubs, time-travel … and a job swap with Death!

For those unfamiliar with the first 3 CDs:

CD1
When your best friend dies, it’s natural that you reflect on their life, and end up with questions that have no ready answers. But what if you met Death, who makes you an offer you can only vaguely understand? What if you’re given the power to travel through time (in a 1985 Vauxhall Cavalier, obviously) … where would you go? What might you learn? And what might you be tempted to change?

CD2
We trek through three millennia of history, juxtapose classic comic book stories with a failing relationship, look at the events and people who influence us consciously or otherwise, search for the perfect woman, and take minor detours via 80s hair rock and gin.

CD3
The final destination is initially unclear … there are many back-roads and troubling diversions to navigate yet and everybody’s got an opinion – but which backseat driver should we listen to? Our resigned inner dialogue? That strangely angelic, yet diabolical barbershop quartet? A somewhat disgruntled Death or disembodied voices from the ether? Our journey concludes as our hero

Ralph Blackbourn – Keyboards, vocals, Tom Halley – Bass, vocals Christopher James Harrison – Lead guitar, vocals, Matt Howes – Lead vocals, guitars and
Gary Mackenzie – Drums, vocals.

The Mighty Handful is a group of south London based musicians, including a Gentle Giant loving, barbershop singing bass player; a classically trained keyboardist cum opera agent; the Music Producer for the BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing; the ex-drummer from NWOBHM band Praying Mantis; and a guitarist who spent 10 years in the UK’s premier Iron Maiden tribute band. Although
they’ve been together in numerous guises over the years, ‘Still Sitting In Danny’s Car’ is the most ambitious and demanding project they’ve ever undertaken – a collection of tunes running to almost two hours, telling a tale of loss, friendship, time travel and a job swap with Death, covering a range of styles and influences, melded with humour and sentiment.

Still Sitting in Danny’s Car 4: Slow Reveal and 5: Devils in the Detail are currently available to download or stream, or on a single CD.
Still Sitting in Danny’s Car (Big Ness Records) – available via iTunes, Amazon, Google Play and elsewhere. Streaming from Spotify. All three CDs covering the entire album are available via www.themerchdesk.com

Human Pyramids have announced their new album ‘Home’ will be released on the 10th of November via Three Mile Town Records.

Human Pyramids, the explosive and uplifting project from Scottish composer Paul Russell of instrumental outfit Axes have announced their new album ‘Home’ released on the 10th of November via Three Mile Town Records.

The new album “Home” takes punk energy and fuses electronic elements with soaring orchestral arrangements performed by a 16 strong ensemble whose jubilant live shows have has seen them make appearances at End of the Road, 2000 Trees and Glastonbury festival.

Raised in an old mining village in the central belt of Scotland and now based in Glasgow, Paul Russell has now expanded his Human Pyramids project to feature a number of handpicked musicians spread throughout the UK. The collectives debut album “Planet Shhh!” received glowing reviews across national press, frequent BBC 6music plays and sound-tracked countless documentaries, films and adverts.

‘Home’ is a collection of 12 pieces of music written by Paul Russell, each one a stunning and winding musical experience, the record moving seamlessly across genre and sounds all the while held together by Russell’s distinctive compositional voice. He said about the record: “Since the humble beginnings of the debut album, the band has ballooned. Live shows at End of the Road, 2000 Trees and Glastonbury Festivals saw the addition of a choir and filled the stage with almost 50 people. Writing a follow up was always going to be an ambitious undertaking!”

Very much a celebration of collaboration, the album was supported by Creative Scotland, which allowed Paul to assemble his favourite musicians, arrangers and producers to work on the record, explaining: “I flew up Danish drummer Allan Gunby to track drums with Graeme Young at Chamber Studios. I recorded guitars with Rod Jones from Idlewild in his beautiful Post Electric Studios. Pete Harvey taught me how to arrange for string quartet and we recorded his ensemble with Paul Savage at Chem19. I took a ferry across to a remote peninsula in Cornwall to work with Simon Dobson on brass arrangements and recorded Trumpet, Tuba and French Horn at his Dark Matter Studios.”

The album will be released on the 10th November on Three Mile Town Records (Worldwide) and on the Ricco Label (East/South East Asia)

Human Pyramids will be launching their new album with a release show at The Lexington in London on the 27th of October with the full 16 piece band in tow.

THE PINEAPPLE THIEF – RELEASE WHERE WE STOOD – THE CONCERT FILM ON 29TH SEPTEMBER THROUGH KSCOPE

THE SPECTACULAR FINAL PERFORMANCE OF THEIR YOUR WILDERNESS TOUR FEATURING GAVIN HARRISON ON DRUMS

Bringing to close an unforgettable 14-date European Winter tour of their 2016 summer hit album Your WildernessThe Pineapple Thief, led by post-progressive mastermind Bruce Soord and reinforced by Gavin Harrison (King Crimson) on drums with Darran Charles (Godsticks) on guitar, gave the sold-out Islington Assembly Hall in London a truly awe-inspiring gig on 11th February 2017. Where We Stood showcases a powerful performance from both band regulars and guests on new tracks from Your Wilderness, including “In Exile“, “No Man’s Land” and “The Final Thing On My Mind“, and of the classics from previous albums, “Nothing At Best“, “Show A Little Love” and “Simple As That“.

Bruce Soord says about the show and release “It was our last show of the tour and our biggest headline show ever. We had 15 cameras, a massive jib, but more importantly – a sell-out crowd!  The pressure was indeed on, but it’s safe to say that the stars aligned for us that night and it turned out to be one of the most memorable performances of our career so far.

We’ve thrown everything but the kitchen sink at this special edition blu-ray.  It has the full show; documentary footage and interviews; and 2 different 5.1 surround mixes (one natural, one discrete) – all in high resolution 24/96 stereo.  It also has our last album ‘Your Wilderness’ in stereo and surround, plus the special ‘8 Years Later’ album in stereo with a brand-new surround mix too.  All of that plus 5 acoustic tracks (also stereo and surround) and loads of bonus videos. This is without doubt the definitive ‘Your Wilderness’ release.”
